Torpedo and Bombing Plane Squadron 2 (VT-2)17 June 1922 - New organization. Standard operating allowance 18 single engine bombing and torpedo planes for bombing and torpedo exercises in conjunction with exercises of VF Squadrons 1 and 2 in air protection of battleships and exercises of VF Squadron 3 in air protection of train. Pending delivery of single engine planes, this squadron will operate 9 F-5-L's. Personnel of Patrol Squadron 1, which is hereby stricken from the list, will be used to form the nucleus of FT-2 Squadron. The personnel of this squadron will be attached to USS Aroostook until that ship is relieved by USS Langley; they will then be attached to USS Langley, but on account of insufficient space aboard ship, will base temporarily on N.A.S.
