Upper firewall stiffener at station #2 side badly bent and rivets to firewall structure shorn.  Fuselage badly distorted casuing cabane tierods to become very slack.  right axle cracked.

04-24-40   VF-3, USS SARATOGA

Bent end bow of right upper wing.  Sprung tail wheel assembly.  Bent both propeller blades.

08-05-40   San Diego                            Disposition only.

07-22-40    VF-3

Engine sustained sudden stoppage; propeller tips bent 5-7 in.; all wing panels twisted or otherwise damaged; both ailerons sprung; right "N" strout badly bent; upper fittings of forward cabane struts sheared; other cabane strut fittings sprung; vertical stabilizer and rudder crushed; all landing and flying wires bent or twisted.

11-18-40    NAS, Norfolk

Oil pressure line to nose of engine P&W part cracked about 1" from forward flange end.  No other apparent damage to engine & nose to airplane.

05-14-42   Miami       Aircraft demolished     Strike.
