Bomber AircraftNavy Bomber Aircraft in the collection. Great Lakes BG-1 (1934-1941) The photographs in my collection are of VB-3B "Black Panther" Squadron and VB-4B "Black Panther" Squadron. They flew off the USS Ranger in late 1937.

Pilot reported injured back after dive bombing flight. 03-10-37 VB-3B Left lower wing rear spar buckled six inches outboard of interplane strut. Lower left aileron bent. 09-15-39 VMS-1, Quantico No damage to plane. Engine. 01-23-40 VMS-1, Quantico Delayed forced landing due to loss of power. No damage to airplane or engine. 11-15-40 VMS-1, Quantico Right hand landing gear strut part No. D-80930, cracked and reptured near attachemnt fitting to fuselage.
